MB&F is customary for OVNI watchmakers. Maximilian Büsser, founder and designer of the Swiss brand, loves to think outside the box, to rethink each mechanism and its function, and to create a new, unlikely design to express each movement and function. Here we see the Horlogical Machine N°4 Thunderbolt (HM4 Thunderbolt), which took 3 years to make and is made of more than 300 pieces, all made to measure and specific to this truly unique model.
Its curves are clearly inspired by aeronautics. 2 “reactors” sit enthroned in the place of the case to suggest and show the hour iwth 2 “hublot” indicators. (That’s right! The Horlogical Machine tells time, even if we don’t see it at first glance).
One of the surprising elements is the crystal that glimpses at the mechanism of the HM4on the whole circumference. a crystal the size of a face, made to measure, to participate in the shape of the watch and create an element of transparency. This crystal takes more than 100 hours to make because of the size and shape (crazy no?).
Everyone can appreciate the beauty of the watch (or not),that you’ll either love or hate, but never be in the middle about. As for me, I find it interesting and stunning, but I am a passionate of this universe and industry. The MB&F team has a clear idea of what they give off with this piece and what others take from it, a beautiful performance piece from a unique universe. That it is.
