1947, the date of the first edition of the Museum of Movado. The first watch conceptualized by a designer, the very first design watch, thought up by the American Nathan George Horwitt. The concept is very simple, it is based on the first timepiece that ever existed: the sun, and more precisely the sun at midday. The dial of the Museum is therefore just marked from a point at 12 o’clock, 2 simple hands, and a deep black background. A direction inspired directly from the Bauhaus style that we love, especially at Timefy. We are offering you 3 models from the Museum collection, all 3 with a 40mm diameter, a very well suited large format. A Classic version, with frosted steel, an elegant contrast, and maximum sobriety. A Monogram version, where the point is repeated on the dial and the strap, and finally a PVD black version, more modern but just as simple. All three have the same profile, the same refinement and a timeless elegance which hasn’t changed since 1947. A traditional model which has contributed to the success of Movado, a prestigious watchmaking company founded in La Chaux-de-Fonds in 1881. The Museum is the high end of watch design, discrete and elegant luxury. The variations on the models are minimal. Above, the Classic Museum model with a concave point, and pointed chromed steal hands. Below, the same PVD black Museum model but with hands from the original model and pointed chrome steel. All the models benefit from the expertise and know-how of Movado, one of the greatest Swiss watchingmaking companies. Below, you will find the original Museum dating from 1947, its timeless line which has not changed and seems strangely contemporary. All the magic consists to maintain a strong character, which is undeniably the case here, with minimal elements. A large dial, a point, two hands and a discrete strap, that’s all! Below is Nathan George Horwitt wearing the Museum on his wrist (Photo Movado). This watch is a part of the permanent collection in New York’s MoMa and is the symbolic watch for those who love the design and concept of watches. We are very happy to be able to offer it to you today on Timefy.com, amid concept watches devised recently by young talented designers.
